ATTENTION: Buffalo and Williamsville NY homeowners – Before you turn your furnace on this winter, be sure to have it inspected for a crack in the heat exchanger. Over 300 people nationally die from dangerous carbon monoxide.

The heat exchanger is the main heating “element” of your furnace and can crack over time – leaking the odorless, colorless carbon monoxide gas.

Vincents Heating & Cooling, known as the best heating contractor in Buffalo and Williamsville NY,  can perform a precision tune-up of your furnace – giving you the peace of mind you deserve.

Call Vincent’s today at (716) 634-4700 to schedule your appointment.

Finding a heating and air conditioning contractor in Buffalo NY doesn’t have to be hard. Since 1904, my family has been serving all of Western New York. It all started with my grandfather selling ice and coal on Buffalo’s West Side. And then in 1939, my grandfather Michael started selling furnaces. My father Vince Sr joined the business in the 1960’s – just when central air conditioning became popular in Buffalo. And me? I’ve been in the heating and cooling business since I was in high school.

But what does this mean to you?

It’s simple. My family is here to serve you. To provide you with the quality workmanship you expect. That’s having the job done right the first time. And it’s having service available in hours, not days.

Most importantly, it’s having the peace of mind knowing that your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed in writing.

If you’re a Buffalo or Williamsville NY homeowner considering buying a central air conditioning system, then this is a really important message.

When buying a central air conditioning unit, make sure you get the right size.

Any reputable heating & cooling contractor will perform a heat gain/loss on your home. This includes taking measurements of your home including how many windows it has and whether it faces south, north, etc. This is extremely important and most contractors don’t do this.

Here’s why. An air conditioning unit that is too big for the house can freeze up. There are two parts to a central air conditioning system. You have the coil that sits on top of your furnace and the condensing unit which sits outside your home. The two units are connected by two copper lines in which refrigerant travels back and forth.

If you install a unit that is too big, the coil can “freeze” up. Ice will block the air from traveling through the condensing unit, so you’ll get no air blowing out of your registers.

So insist on having a proper survey done when considering a new central air conditioning system for your home.

Air conditioners are great during the summer when the temperature is hot. They give you that instant feeling of coolness and relieve you from those dreaded hot humid days. So we should at least take care of these things that give us relief and comfort. But do you know how?

Obviously, you should maintain your central air conditioning system because it’s a large investment in your home. But you need to remember that a cleaned and tuned-up system will run more efficiently…and you’ll spend less to cool you home.

In maintaining your air conditioner, the first thing that you should do is check the blowers and filters. This should be regularly done. Cleaning the blowers and filters is one of the most important aspects of having a precision tune-up performed on your home’s ac unit. A blocked or clogged filter is one of the main reasons why your unit could stop working over the summer.

The second thing you should check is the outside condensing unit. It shouldn’t be blocked or obstructed. The air that is being blown out needs to escape. So be sure that you home’s landscaping isn’t blocking the unit. One of the benefits of having a tune-up is the fins of the condensing unit get washed down…removing any grass clippings or weeds that may have gotten trapped.

And most importantly, you want to have the refrigerant levels measured. If you keep adding freon, it’s a sign that you’ve got a leak somewhere in the lines. And that must be fixed by a professional who can evacuate the system and do a nitrogen test to find the leak. At that point, the leak is repaired by rebraizing the copper line or joint. Then another nitrogen test is performed to make sure the unit can hold the pressure. And finally, the system can be recharged to factory specifications.

By cleaning and maintaining your air conditioner, it will last for a lot longer. It won’t break down as much. And it will run more efficiently.

This isn’t a do-it-yourself project. Have your unit cleaned and checked by a qualified professional. The small price you invest in a tune-up will be well worth it in the long run. Why? Because it’s always better to prevent the unit from breaking down than have it repaired.
